Linn Mar Competition

Team #458 and team #3549′s endeavors paid off at the Linn Mar competition on November 19th. Both teams ending up walking away with awards, a very successful competition to say the least. Team #458 received the Motivate award for their robot costume with the cool, moving eyebrows, while team #3549 obtained the Connect Award with their plans to talk to students at Kennedy to get a team started. Team #458 was also chosen as the first alliance at semi-finals. However, they did not make it to the finals. Team #3549 was the runner up for the Innovate Award which qualifies them for state. It was a very exciting and eventful day. Next stop: Davenport! Great job to both teams!

Hi-technic IRSeeker Values

hi-technic-irseeker-values

This is an approximation of how Hi-technic’s IRSeeker values are really read. On Hi-technic’s website there is a picture of how they claim the sensor reads directional values, and it shows that all of the values come off the sensor at the same angle, but that is clearly not correct. We set up some tests to read the values of the infrared sensor, and this is what we came up with. It’s not exactly perfect, but it’s more accurate than what Hi-technic says and it was good enough to get us lined up to the infrared beacon.
